This project is a retrospective look back at my relationship with music
I’m one half of the recording duo Cipher:First Son, partner to Rob (Thunderman). We have been recording music since 1988.

I’ve been playing, writing and recording music in some shape, fashion and form since 2nd grade. Music, for a time, was what I would have regarded my “best friend”.

This is the 16th release for Collab K recordings, and a fitting look back as I approach 50.

Though my music has always been self-effacing, this is the most vulnerable I have allowed myself to be artistically. I stuck to my organic music production style with this project, and incorporated as much of the musical expressions I love into the production.

As for substance, I continue to press forward with the consistency of the Cipher projects. Family, community, intellect, and spirituality continue to be present and accounted for lyrically. Continuing in the aim to elevate the art while telling the story of J...
